Kullu/Delhi (KUU/DEL)Departure
Kullu/Delhi (KUU/DEL)Welcome to Manali – your gateway to the great Himalayan adventure! Nestled in the lap of the mountains, Manali is not just a picturesque town but also a cultural haven. After arriving via Delhi, Chandigarh, or Kullu Airport, our team will greet you and assist with a smooth check-in. You’ll have time to relax, walk around the bustling Mall Road, or breathe in the pine-scented air along the Beas River.
In the evening, get introduced to your fellow riders during the orientation session. We'll walk you through the complete trip plan, riding protocols, and essential safety guidelines. A professional bike check follows, ensuring your machine is ready for the high-altitude terrain. After a hearty dinner, rest well – tomorrow, the ride begins!
With engines roaring and spirits high, you’ll ride through the engineering marvel – Atal Tunnel – into the dramatic landscapes of Lahaul Valley. Witness the shifting terrain as you pass towns like Keylong and Jispa. The climb to Baralacha La (16,040 ft) is nothing short of breathtaking.
By evening, arrive in Sarchu, a high-altitude plain that lies between Himachal and Ladakh. This raw, rugged land offers a truly off-grid experience. Sarchu is a favorite overnight halt for high-altitude riders and adventure seekers alike.
Today’s journey is a legendary one – covering famous bends like the Gata Loops and passes including Nakee La and Lachung La. The ride opens up into the magnificent Morey Plains – a flat desert at over 15,000 ft, surrounded by towering peaks.
After conquering Tanglang La (17,480 ft), you begin the descent toward the city of Leh. Upon arrival, check-in to your hotel and take some well-earned rest. The city's calm ambiance is a welcome contrast to the rough terrain.
Today is all about acclimatization and exploration. Discover Leh’s historic and spiritual landmarks such as Shanti Stupa, Leh Palace, and the vibrant Tibetan market. If energy allows, optional excursions to Magnetic Hill, the Hall of Fame war museum, and Gurudwara Pathar Sahib offer both scenic rides and cultural depth.
This is a perfect day to immerse in Ladakhi culture, interact with locals, and shop for handicrafts or souvenirs.
Gear up for a dream ride as we ascend to Khardung La – once the highest motorable road in the world at 18,380 ft. The panoramic views from the top are majestic, with snow-capped peaks and fluttering prayer flags.
From here, descend into Nubra Valley, a cold desert that contrasts dramatically with the snowy heights. Explore the dunes of Hunder, enjoy a Bactrian camel ride, or visit the historic Diskit Monastery for spiritual solace.
Today’s ride via the offbeat Shyok route is filled with river crossings, winding turns, and raw terrain. It’s a stretch that truly tests your skills but rewards you with unmatched scenic beauty.
Arrive at Pangong Lake – one of the most surreal natural wonders of Ladakh. Stretching across India and China, this high-altitude lake changes shades of blue as the day progresses. Spend your evening lakeside under a star-studded sky.
Ride along a route steeped in history and beauty. First, visit Rezang La, a site of immense bravery from the 1962 war. The road then leads into deep and remote territory toward Hanle, a peaceful village famous for its ancient monastery and India’s highest astronomical observatory.
Far from the crowd, Hanle offers spiritual quiet and rare serenity – an experience unmatched elsewhere.
Brace yourself for the highest motorable road on Earth – Umling La! Standing at a staggering 19,024 ft, this pass challenges even the most seasoned riders. The journey is tough but truly rewarding, offering a feeling of standing on top of the world.
Return to Hanle in the evening, cherishing the thrill of conquering this epic destination.
Begin your return journey through Ladakh’s lesser-known landscapes. Stop at Tso Kar, a salt lake nestled in a high-altitude plateau. Its quiet charm and chances of spotting migratory birds make it a photographer’s delight.
Later, ride toward Sarchu and settle in for one last night amidst the stark grandeur of the Himalayas.
Retrace your steps back toward Manali, crossing Baralacha La once again. As the elevation drops, lush greenery reappears, welcoming you with open arms.
Reach Manali by evening and celebrate your successful expedition with your riding crew – a journey filled with challenges, bonds, and memories.
Time to pack your bags and say goodbye to the mountains. Depart from Manali with your soul recharged and your heart full of stories.
Whether you’re heading home or planning your next ride, the spirit of Ladakh will ride with you always.
We recommend powerful and reliable bikes like Royal Enfield Classic 350/500, Himalayan, RE Scram, or similar adventure bikes with strong suspension and torque. You may bring your own or rent through our trusted partners.
While the trip is marked Moderate to Challenging, first-time riders with basic bike handling experience and good physical fitness can do it with proper preparation. Prior mountain riding experience is a bonus.
The best season for this ride is June to September, when the roads are open, the weather is mostly stable, and Ladakh is in its full glory.
